2010 YEAR IN REVIEW WITH GRAPHIC DESIGN & WEB DEVELOPMENT
Happy New Year! The year is over and 2011 is up next. Fluxar Studios is evolving and moving forward faster than ever. We are quickly becoming the “go to” place for Graphic Design, Web Development and Consulting in Bakersfield. We are getting appreciation from around the world and being recognized throughout the web from places like Creattica.com, SmashingMagazine.com, WeLoveWP.com and many more.
Fluxar Studios is a local firm located in Bakersfield, CA. We pride ourselves in doing the best and most creative work around these parts. We love our clients and enjoy building new relationships. If you’re ever in our neck of the woods, stop by and meet the team!
We would like to conclude last year with an article sharing everything the Fluxar team has accomplished. Below I will continue this in a story format as well as link each event throughout so you, the reader, can follow along as you read. There are some very impressive milestones here, so be sure to read on and don’t forget to subscribe! If you’d like to check it out in a time-line fashion, you can scroll down anytime.
The first half of the year was just a stepping-stone to the beginning of something great. Settling into our new offices was a long process, but nothing too extreme and everything came together quite well. As many of you may already know, we are two studios in one building. In the back you have Bossanova Studios, which is the art by your favorite Bakersfield artist, Johnny Ramos. Fluxar Studios, led by Kynan Chambers, is in the front of this creative machine creating some of the most beautiful websites in the industry.
The Bossanova relocation took place in January with multiple shows following. With a growing reputation from sources like Bakersfield Life, Bakersfield Californian and Bakersfield Express, Johnny continued his art shows into February when the official opening of Bossanova took place.
Towards the middle of the year Fluxar produced the clean and crisp designs for the Greg Linn Wine Bottles. They were featured on thedieline.com, a website dedicated to showcasing some of the world’s best packaging design. If you’re a wine connoisseur, cruise on over to the shop and purchase one of his wines that were highly rated by Robert Parker.
In June, Fluxar was nominated for the Beautiful Bakersfield Award in Architecture, which was followed by one of our most honored moments. Creattica is a website owned by the world renowned Envato. Envato is a company out of Australia that owns many other sister companies like PSDTUTS, NETTUTS, AUDIOTUTS and many more that are a daily enjoyment to the team here at Fluxar. They get submissions every day from people wanting to showcase their work in a categorized fashion. Fluxar made a name for themselves by achieving front page status multiple times.
This next part is about me, the author, Silas Sao. I joined the Fluxar team on the 1st of September. Originally, I came on to help the other developers with the backed up queue they had. Throughout the months I started closing more and more jobs that were held up by client roadblocks. This caused my title to transform into Project Manager, which in turn caused me to focus all my energy into one thing, getting everything organized. Now I help our clients organize their data, content and imagery to prepare it for the designers and developers. I make sure the team has everything they need to keep the workflow consistent and fluid. I love this industry and the fact that I get to advance with such a forward thinking company makes it that much better.
Another fun milestone was the first annual Fluxar Fright Night. We had live music brought to you by yours truly. The food and alcohol was brought in by Lengthwise Brewery, a local brewery with awesome food and a close friend of Fluxar Studios. The Halloween party went great and you can check out pictures on our Facebook!
The end of the year has to be the most anticipated part of every year for the Fluxar team. Bearded Christmas is a tradition brought to you by the Bearded Council. You can read this excerpt written by one of the council members himself to get a better idea of the event’s background:
“This year would be the 7th annual Bearded Christmas. It actually started by a friend of mine and I (we became two of the three council members) growing mustaches on a dare. My goal was Wyatt Earp and his was Tom Selleck, needless to say the mustaches never went very far and somehow they mutated into full beards. A third friend joined us (later to become the 3rd council member) then some of his friends, some of our friends and so on. As time went on, dates and rules formed and it became a full blown event known as the Bearded Christmas. Funny enough the beards keep getting bigger and bigger each year. Oh, and grayer!”
